Hunter's Safety Education

HCCB staff will be hosting our final 2021 Hunter's Education Field Day Course at Calkins Nature Area on August 31st, at 6:00 PM. It is required of participants to have the certificate for their completed online portion of the training before hand. Register here for our field day course.

Hardin County Conservation typically hosts one or two Hunter’s Safety Certification courses each year at Calkins Nature Area. The first course is typically in the early spring, just a few weeks before youth turkey season begins. If there is enough demand we will host a second course in late August or early September.

Most of our courses are Field Day Certification classes and participants must take the online portion of the course before being allowed to register for the field day. Upon completion of the field day, passing students will be given their certificate immediately and will be able to obtain a hunting license and tags in the state of Iowa.
