During the regular weekly meeting of the Hardin County Board of Supervisors, the ESGR (Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve) presented two Hardin County employees with recognition for supporting their employees' participation in the National Guard and Reserve.

Daryl Albertson, County Engineer, and Bruce Dieken, Assistant to the Engineer, were presented the Patriot Award in recognition of their support of Joe Donald, CAD Technician and Staff Sergeant with the Army Reserve. SSG Joe Donald nominated both of his supervisors the award in appreciation and recognition for their support of his service.

The awards were presented by members of the ESGR and Joe presented a brief speech of thanks. View Award Presentation

ESGR sponsors an awards program designed to recognize employers for employment policies and practices that are supportive of their employees' participation in the National Guard and Reserve. All employer recognition and awards originate from nominations by individual Reserve Component members. Depending on the degree of support, the level of recognition may rise to the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.

The Patriot Award

An employee serving in the National Guard or Reserve, or the spouse of a Guard or Reserve member, may nominate individual supervisors and bosses for support provided directly to the nominating Service member and his or her family. The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.
