Hardin County will again be allowing the application of dust control in front of rural residences. Dust control material can be placed at the owner’s expense under the following conditions:
Residents can apply dust control themselves or hire a contractor to complete the application. If you intend to apply the dust control material yourself, it will be necessary to obtain a permit from the County Engineer’s Office prior to doing the work. If you choose to hire a contractor to make the application, the contractors listed below have expressed an interest in working in Hardin County and will supply you with a permit application, or you may obtain a permit application directly from the County Engineer’s Office.

Property owners should contact the contractor directly and work with them. The contractor will in turn notify the County as to the location of dust control so the County can tight blade the area before the chemical is applied. Flags to mark your dust control areas can be obtained from the County Engineer’s Office, 708 16th St., Eldora, Iowa.
Again during the Spring 2018 season, we will be imposing a sign up deadline of April 27, 2018. A late fee of $25.00 will be assessed on permits received after April 27, 2018. A permit applied for after the deadline will not be issued and dust control will not be allowed to be placed until the late fee is paid. No exceptions.
Anyone who has questions about the application of dust control can call the Hardin County Engineer’s Office at
(641)858-5058.
