Hardin County Board of Supervisors
WHEREAS, in our society violence against women and children continues to escalate; and
WHEREAS, domestic violence affects every person in Hardin County as a survivor or as a family member, significant other, neighbor or coworker of a survivor; and
WHEREAS, Hardin County recognizes the importance of designation a time devoted to increasing the general public's awareness of domestic violence; and
WHEREAS, Crisis Intervention Service staff promote domestic violence prevention by offering educational programs to schools, churches, and civic organizations as well as professional training to medical, mental health, law enforcement, education, criminal justice personnel regarding domestic violence issues; and
WHEREAS, Crisis Intervention Service and other professionals and supporters have joined together to support each other in their work and to provide Hardin county and its citizens with a central source of information on domestic violence; and
WHEREAS, it is vitally important that continued educational efforts to provide information about prevention and services for survivors of domestic violence be supported and enhanced;and
WHEREAS, it is critical to intensify public awareness of domestic violence, to educate people about the need for citizens involvement in efforts to reduce domestic violence, to providing domestic violence services and to increase support for agencies increase awareness of the healing power of creative expression; and
WHEREAS, Crisis Intervention Service requests public support and assistance as it continues to work toward a society where all women, men, and children can live in peace, free from violence and exploitation;
NOW THEREFORE, We, the Hardin County Board of Supervisors, do hereby proclaim the month of October as
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH
