[ARCHIVED] Perfect Gift for Christmas

Friends of Calkins Nature Logo

Are you shopping for the perfect gift for that "hard to buy for person"? A Friends of Calkins Membership is a great Christmas Gift!

We have had such a wonderful year at Calkins! Change is in the wind! And boy have there been changes at the Calkins Nature Center this year! Please make a trip out soon to see all the progress! Spring brought us lots of moisture and made travel to the center difficult, but for brave patrons who plowed their way out for a visit, we are sure it was well worth the trouble. Chris Barber and Davis Horton have kept very busy with interpretive presentations both at Calkins and through out communities in Hardin County.

The museum expansion work is finished!!! If you haven’t visited yet,the collection highlights the extensive displays of Native American artifacts generously donated by Jeff Ulch. Be sure to look up when you go into the museum for the bison that inhabit the room. If you happen to visit and Jeff is present, be sure to ask him about his collection! It is a fascinating story!

Our ever popular “Summer Blast” summer day camps were bursting at the seams again this year! Where else can kids have so much fun and learning combined? Over 130 Children were registered. We are sure they had a blast discovering new things about nature!

Another important finished project is the Arboretum. All the new trees are planted and labeled for more learning over the next decades. THANKS IF Class Of 69–You’re a class act!
