[ARCHIVED] 2020 General Election Absentee Ballot Statement

Article IV, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution guarantees to each State a republican form of government. Holding transparent and honest elections is a fundamental function under such form of government. The 2020 general election served as a major stress test on the franchise, with obvious casualties being confidence in the system and accountability for mischief.

Locally, there has been some public discourse and discord in this regard. Our County Auditor/Election Commissioner has reviewed and addressed inquiries regarding our county’s issuance of absentee ballots in the 2020 general election. The press published the conclusions of the local Election Commissioner, who said on February 24th – “[T]here were not any absentee ballot request forms of that type [pre-filled out] that came from this office. There were absentee ballot request forms sent from other groups that had various areas filled, but not from this office.”

Thus, Hardin County ran a proper election and the public can have confidence in the reported results.
