On March 5th, 2017, members of the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office and Ackley Police Department were conducting joint training. This training included working with both K9 Ogon and K9 Lexer. The main focus of the training was traffic stops, narcotic searches, and bite work.
Unfortunately, Sheriff McDaniel, acting as the perpetrator in the training scenario, took a bite from K9 Ogon. It was during this bite Sheriff McDaniel’s leg twisted and resulted in breaking the leg in three spots. Sheriff McDaniel is undergoing treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.
