Question

How do I obtain an absentee ballot for an upcoming election?

Answer

Voters wishing to receive an absentee ballot by mail must submit a request in writing to the Auditor's Office. Requests must be received in the Auditor's Office 15 days prior to the election. The request must include:

  • Name
  • Date of birth
  • ID number
  • Iowa residential address
  • Address where the ballot is to be mailed if it is to be mailed to an address other than where the voter is registered
  • Name or date of the election
  • Party affiliation ( Primary Elections only )
  • Signature and date the form was completed
