    May 4, 2019, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Calkins Nature Center

Join Hardin County Conservation for their annual Wildflower Walk on Saturday, May 4th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The walk will be held at Calkins’ Nature Area this year. Learn about the ecology of our many spring ephemerals and some interesting facts about native Iowa plants. This is great for kids and also entails a lot of hiking, so come out and get a little exercise in too! If you have questions please contact us at 641-648-9878 any day of the week from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Hepatica, blood root, spring beauties, trout lily, wild ginger, Dutchman’s breeches, Virginia water leaf, wild leek, and Jacob’s ladder have all emerged, some of which are starting to flower. Exciting time of year to see all of the beautiful spring ephemerals! We expect to see more interesting plants by May 4th.
